2 foreign climbers died on Mount Everest: Nepal official

Nobukazu Kuriki 36 was found dead while sleeping in a camp 2 tent at 7,400 metres

A Sherpa guide who has scaled Mount Everest for the 22nd time has returned from the record-breaking trip and told friends he is not done yet.

More than 400 climbers have reached the top of Everest during the season, which runs between April and May.

The 36-year-old's body was found after he died in his sleep in a tent at 7,400 metres on the 8,850-metre mountain. The Japan Times reported that Kuriki slipped and fell, and earlier reports said he was found dead in his tent.

Some 340 foreign climbers and their Sherpa guides are attempting to scale the world's highest mountain this month and many succeeded in the past week during a period of good weather. But he was alone when he radioed for help from Camp III.

On his official blog, Kuriki's office reported he would descend from a point of 7,400 meters because he was in bad shape.

"The chances of survival on the world's tallest mountain are always 50/50".

It is unlikely Kuriki made the summit.

Shrestha said Kuriki's body was around the Camp 2 area while the Macedonian climber's body was at a higher elevation.

"I feel the pain and difficulty of this mountain", a post said.

Kuriki was a known mountaineer who had made several attempts on Everest.

In 2012, he lost nine of his fingers to frostbite.

"I really don't need to prepare for Everest since I will be climbing other peaks later this year", he said. "This was his dream and he never let it go".
