Boba Fett Movie Is A Go!

Boba Fett Movie Is A Go!

"Logan" helmer James Mangold is writing and directing the spinoff, which follows "The Force Awakens", "Rogue One", "The Last Jedi", "Solo", and an upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi project in the current generation of "Star Wars" movies.

The report came Thursday, the day before Lucasfilm and Disney released their latest spinoff film, "Solo: A Star Wars Story".

Disney also has plans for an Obi-Wan Kenobi spinoff movie with Stephen Daldry in talks to direct, though no script is now being worked on. Filmmaker Simon Kinberg (X-Men: Dark Phoenix) was previously rumored to be developing a Boba Fett movie, but it remains to be seen if he's still involved in the project. But considering that any new Star Wars films won't want to associate themselves too closely with the poorly-received prequels, it's likely a brand new Boba will be cast. Kinberg did work on Logan with Mangold, which could bode well, if you're hoping for confirmation of his involvement. With 3:10 To Yuma and especially Logan, Mangold has shown just what he can do in the Western genre, which would fit this character nicely.

If you're unfamiliar, Fett first appeared in The Empire Strikes Back, hunting down Han Solo and delivering him into the messy mitts of Jabba the Hutt.

Simply put, backtracking to Boba's past runs the risk of making the Anthology films' approach predictably formulaic, once more reverse-engineering stories in Star Wars history which lead to a destination we already know - in Fett's case, a destiny of dust and death.

Kasdan, who wrote the script for Solo with his father Lawrence, talked with Screen Rant about the many references to Star Wars' past that crop up in the pic. Presumably, the Fett movie will tackle the story of how he goes from that moment to the notorious villain that captured Han Solo later in life.

Subtropical Storm Alberto could be a rainmaker, but not for Texas
While the tornado threat is on the low side, any tornado activity across Florida this weekend would not be much of a surprise. No computer model now tracks it into Houston , but some of the more reliable ones do track it as far west as Louisiana.
