Fortnite Solo Showdown: What Is The New Limited Time Mode?

Ninja Proves He's a Solo Squad Master After Winning 1v7

Once the limited time mode ends, the top 100 players will receive a prize.

Insanely popular battle royale title Fortnite could be getting a competitive mode if a new report is to be believed.

In order to qualify, you'll need to play 50 Solo Showdown matches.

Fortnite Battle Royale is arguably the biggest game in the market right now and it just keeps getting bigger. Don't get too excited, though: remember, this is a ranking of everyone that plays at least 50 matches in the mode.

Unlike other Limited Time Modes that have previously been added to the game, Solo Showdown "will not change core gameplay of the current Solo mode", says Epic. Upon the conclusion of each match, you'll earn a number of points based upon your final positioning. The prizes for the rest of the top 100 aren't anything to stick your nose up at, either: 2nd-4th place will get 25,000 V-Bucks, 5th-50th will get 13,500, and 51st-100th will get 7,500.

For the competitor to get 1st place, 50,000 V-Bucks awaits. The Solo Showdown rules say that 50 matches are needed to enter the competition, with first place obtaining 50,000 V-Bucks.

The maximum score that a player can achieve is 5,000, but that would mean finishing in first place for all 50 of your Solo Showdown matches. The remaining 50 will get 7,500 V-Bucks. The mode will end on Monday, May 21st at 10:00 a.m. Rather than changing up the way you play the game with new additions, like Thanos, or different squad sizes, like the 50v50 mode, the latest way to play Fortnite changes the rules by not changing the rules, rather by changing the rewards offered. This mode is very clearly aimed at Fortnite Battle Royale's best and most-skilled players (such as record-setting players like Ninja) and Epic also teases a "major announcement about competitive play" coming next week.
