Google launches Android Things platform for home appliances and other such devices

Google Lens features Google io 2018

Back in December of 2016, Google launched a developer preview of Android Things, its focused effort on the Internet of Things and making even more Android-powered devices.

While the first stable build of the platform packs a number of improvements and tweaks outlined below, its overall goal remains unchanged, with Google still pitching it as the ultimate solution for IoT manufacturers interested in cutting software development, maintenance, and general deployment costs, thus being able to commit more resources to other aspects of their products such as hardware and marketing or simply increase profit margins.

The annual developer conference will kick off at the company's headquarters in Mountain View, California on 8th May. Leading up to this year's show, Google already announced that it will be investing in start-ups that use the Google Assistant ecosystem-an announcement that would have been flawless for the I/O stage-so Google must have even cooler things talk about at the keynote. It's like someone mashed together a high-end speaker bar, a Google Home, and an Android TV media streamer like the Nvidia Shield, all into one sleek-looking package.

Microsoft's platform is also available on devices with much smaller footprints.

Google is still new in IoT sector and will take a while before it can understand the market demands and change products accordingly.

Decked Up In White, Sonam Kapoor Is The Epitome Of Grace & Elegance
In another Insta story by Pooja Dhingra streaming online, Sonam Kapoor is seen enthusiastically doing the kalire ritual. Sridevi's daughters, Janhvi and Khushi were also spotted outside the venue in white ensemble, looking radiant as ever.

Google have also confirmed that they have been working closely with LG and iHome on their smart speakers and with Lenovo, LG, and JBL on their smart displays which will have Google Assistant and Chromecast integration. You can ask questions or tell it to control your smart home devices. We can also expect more investments and features being added to the Assistant. A new name is nice, but we want to see some substance to go along with it. The voice-based digital assistant will reduce the distractions for drivers.

Perhaps the most crucial part of this week's I/O keynote could have to do with artificial intelligence.

Rumors about Google developing a cheaper Pixel phone have swirled ever since the first Made-by-Google phone landed, but this year it may actually come true.

Following its announcement of an Android-based infotainment system previous year, Volvo is taking another step toward integrating its tech with Google.
