Israel win Eurovision while Ireland finish 16th

Netta Barzilai in Eurovision 2018

With a combined total of 529 points, Netta's "Toy" won the song contest, and, in an awkward moment, was awarded the winner's trophy by last year's champion, Salvador Sobral, who referred to "Toy" as "a awful song" earlier in the week.

Barzilai, a singer and looping artist, performed the quirky song with the odd chicken-noise breakdown, created to imitate a coward who treats a woman like a toy.

"I am so happy".

"Thank you so much for choosing difference, thank you so much for accepting differences between us, thank you for celebrating diversity. next time in Jerusalem!"

But it couldn't have been a better year for Israel to take the title - as it's exactly 20 years since their last victory in the contest.

On that occasion Dana won it it in a nail-biting finish - snatching the win from nearest rivals Malta at the last minute, with the United Kingdom also sneaking forward at the very last minute to finish second.

IPl 2018 : Royal Challengers Bangalore win by five wickets
RCB calmly reach the target with 5 wickets down and a final score of 187, with de Villiers smashing a six off the final delivery. With this win, the RCB is still at the seventh spot with eight points, but they are still alive in the tournament.

Unable to vote for Mauboy, Australia gave its maximum 12 points to Sweden with many enjoying Benjamin Ingrosso's upbeat number Dance You Off.

The snub of Australia wasn't the only shock during this year's Eurovision.

Twenty-six nations performed in the grand final at the riverside Altice Arena, watched by millions around the world.

SuRie kept her composure and finished her song "Storm", written by Brisbane songwriter Nicole Blair. SuRie bravely soldiered on and declined the invitation to sing again once security had cleared the stage.

Little is known about the man responsible, but it appears he does have a history of invading the stage during live events.

There was much support on social media for the singer's calm reaction to the drama, but it didn't help her in the final tally, finishing 24th.
