Jason Witten replaces Raiders' Jon Gruden as MNF lead analyst

Former Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten

Play-by-play will be done by Joe Tessitore.

Additionally, Booger McFarland, the subject of speculation the past few days, will take on a new role as a field-level analyst on Monday Night Football broadcasts. McFarland is also making a jump from college football coverage, previously serving as a studio analyst.

Gruden had been MNF's analyst for nine seasons, flying solo in the position over the past six years.

Following up on reports that first surfaced in March, ESPN confirmed Thursday that Joe Tessitore is leaving as one of the network's lead college football play-by-play voices to take the same job in the Monday Night Football booth.

Witten, one of the sport's finest tight ends and a likely Hall of Famer, retired from the Dallas Cowboys earlier this month to move into the booth.

ESPN has yet to announce who will call the first game between the New York Jets and Detroit Lions. Jason leaves the game with the respect of the entire league. The 2018 NFL season marks their 13th year on Monday Night Football and 28th overall as a producer-director duo.
