'Lethal Weapon' Renewed with Seann William Scott In and Clayne Crawford Out

Fox has renewed the Warner Bros. Television procedural while replacing its troubled leading star

Well, Deadline is reporting that a suitable replacement has been found in American Pie and Goon star Seann William-Scott, who will play a new character who finds himself partnered up with Daman Wayans' Roger Murtaugh.

"Seann is a fantastic addition to this already wonderful cast", said Thorn.

FOX has made a decision to renew its action drama series Lethal Weapon for a third season, but it's not exactly that cut and dry.

Lethal Weapon is now the only show produced outside of Fox counterpart 20th TV on the network's 2018-19 roster.

Besides "American Pie", Scott's credits include "Road Trip", "Role Models", "The Dukes of Hazzard", "The Rundown" and "Dude, Where's My Car?". Lethal Weapon is a strong performer domestically and internationally - the film franchise is a global smash having grossed hundreds of millions of dollars - and the network was willing to work with the studio to find a way to move forward.

Crawford admitted to being disciplined over two on-set incidents involving outbursts, giving his side of the story and apologizing for "my part of the conflict". As for Warner Bros.

Lethal Weapon, as the youngest and highest rated of the three Warner Bros TV drama series for Fox, was considered a shoo-in for renewal until the behind-the scene problems involving Crawford threw the pickup in limbo. It's not clear at this point which character he will play, but it does sound like it will be a new character who pairs up with Murtaugh.

"Warner Bros. Television has decided not to renew Clayne Crawford's contract for 'Lethal Weapon, '" WBTV said in a statement Sunday.

The series' ratings were enough to score a renewal, however the behavior of Clayne Crawford put the show in jeopardy. We'd come to love Crawford in the role over the first two seasons and will be sad to see him go. "Furthermore, I apologize to all the crew and cast for any negative attention Lethal Weapon is receiving because of these incidents".

Episodes of LETHAL WEAPON are available on FOX NOW, Hulu and On Demand.
