Russian Federation 2018: Rohr releases 30-man provisional list

BREAKING NFF releases Super Eagles World Cup squad

Super Eagles striker Olanrewaju Kayode has revealed that he does not have any hard feelings after being snubbed by manager Gernot Rohr in the 30-man provisional squad for the World Cup in Russian Federation.

Twenty-six-year-old Nwankwo's invitation is a confirmation of an exclusive story by The PUNCH on April 24, 2018 which revealed that Rohr would include the striker in his provisional squad for the World Cup. As expected, the list was dominated by the bulk of players that prosecuted the qualifiers albeit with few inclusions.

He said: "We need to commend the effort of the coach that he was able to come out with this list in spite of pressure from agents of some unfit players".

"It is the best we have and we are bringing to the table for now, " he added.

Francis Uzoho, Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Dele Ajiboye and Daniel Akpeyi are battling for the team's goal keeping spot.

Rohr is expected to submit the final 23-man list to Federation Internationale de Football Association after Eagles global friendly with England at Wembley stadium on June 2nd.

Surprise invitee Lokosa now leads the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) goalscorers chat with 18 goals, recording his most recent goals in Kano Pillar's 3-1 victory over Kaduna United on Sunday.

"World Cup is a dream of every football player, I'm no exception".

China-based Super Eagles Captain Mikel John Obi, defenders Abdullahi Shehu, Elderson Echiejile and Leon Balogun, as well as midfielders Ogenyi Onazi and Oghenekaro Etebo and forwards Ahmed Musa and Victor Moses also made the 30-man provisional list for the Russian Federation 2018 FIFA World Cup finals.

The attackers are Ahmed Musa (CSKA Moscow, Russia); Kelechi Iheanacho (Leicester City, England); Moses Simon (KAA Gent, Belgium); Victor Moses (Chelsea FC, England); Odion Ighalo (Changchun Yatai, China); Alex Iwobi (Arsenal FC, England); and another newcomer, Nwankwo Simeon (Crotone FC, Italy). Mikel, Musa, Moses, Onazi and Omeruo were at the 2014 World Cup while Echiejile played at the 2010 edition in South Africa.
