Apple's WWDC 2018 will reportedly be hardware free

Apple's WWDC 2018 will reportedly be hardware free

Expect Apple to reveal this and plenty more about iOS at its Worldwide Developer Conference, WWDC, next month.

When it comes to Apple iOS 12, earlier reports from Bloomberg have said that the next OS is codenamed "Peace", and this time the company will focus on improving quality, rather than rushing all the new features.

Bloomberg reports that Apple is planning refreshes for the MacBook and MacBook Pro, the iPad Pro, and the Apple Watch.

Apple may finally loosen the leash on the NFC chips in its iPhones and Apple Watches in iOS 12. This release of the company's mobile operating system will be all about quality and responsiveness - thus, big new stuff such as a redesigned Home screen, an AI upgrade for the Photos app, and new file management tools for iPads, are only coming in 2019. Another mode being developed lets users drop an item into an area where it will remain in place. Apple is also working on a redesigned iPad Pro line with Face ID, but that's also expected later. Nor is the Apple Watch Series 4, which is predicted to arrive in the fall retaining prior models' sizes, shapes, and band compatibility while increasing screen real estate. "There'll be minor new features for snoozing notifications, tracking the stock market, making video calls, and sending Animojis - the virtual cartoons introduced with the iPhone X".

With the new capabilities, iPhones would be able to unlock NFC-enabled doors and potentially transmit data to transit systems, personal authentication devices and more. And according to another person familiar with Apple's plans for the Apple Watch, there will be two new models unveiled at WWDC.
