Brooks Koepka wins second straight U.S. Open

The out-of-nowhere US Open leader done with ‘stupid shots

Daniel Berger, Tony Finau, Brooks Koepka and Dustin Johnson were tied for the lead at 3-over entering the final round of U.S. Open 2018 today (Sunday, June 17) in NY.

Buck told Patrick he didn't talk to Koepka and Sims about the mistake after the tournament, joking that he "got the hell out of Wisconsin", where the U.S. Open was played previous year at Erin Hills.

England's Tommy Fleetwood has tied the U.S. Open record with a 7-under-63 in the final round.

The difficulty of Shinnecock Hills on Saturday afternoon when the wind picked up and the exposed greens turned quick and crusty turned this U.S. Open into a grinding struggle for survival on the scoreboard.

Mickelson shot 11-over 81 on Saturday, including a controversial 10 on the par-4 13th hole.

Koepka also crucially saved par on the 12th and 14th before striking the killer blow, a superb approach to the par-five 16th setting up a tap-in birdie.

Even with that disappointment, Fleetwood is in at 2 over, which puts him one off the lead (shared by Brooks Koepka and Patrick Reed) at the moment. Those were, supposedly, the best golfers in the field through two rounds. It is not clear when she and Koepka began to date, but it was not long before she entered the spotlight during Koepka's U.S. Open celebration.

But one thing was -the supermodel celebutante and her friends had no clue that Johnson, the tournament's 36-hole leader, had actually lost by two.

"I don't know", Stenson said. As he stood over a 9ft birdie putt on the 18th, Fleetwood knew he needed to hole it to become not just the first man to shoot 62 in a US Open but any major championship staged in America. He tied the record held by five others at 63, including Johnny Miller when he won in 1973 - the only time a 63 was shot in the Open's last round. Even USGA CEO Mike Davis admitted the course went over the edge in spots late in the day. The course, the tournament - everything took a sharp turn Saturday, giving us a wide-open, surprising and unpredictable final round. The Masters champion birdied his first three holes.

Dustin Johnson, part of the four-way tie for the lead to start the final round, couldn't keep up with one of his best friends. "When it's that big an advantage to playing in the morning versus the afternoon, I think it takes away from the work that the guys have done the first two days".

Johnson is joined in the lead by three others - Daniel Berger (66), Tony Finlau (66) and defending champion, Brooks Koepka (72).
