Fans spooked by gunshot sound effects during Eminem's Bonnaroo performance

Showman On Saturday night 45-year-old Eminem courted controversy when gunshot effects played as part of his performance instilled panic in the crowd

Rap icon Eminem is being criticized by some fans and defended by others for the use of pyrotechnics during his performance at the Bonaroo Music Festival over the weekend that some concert goers thought were gunshots.

During Eminem's headlining performance at Bonnaroo on Saturday night, the artist included sound effects during one song that startled many fans who confused the sounds for gunshots.

According to Billboard, 'many fans screamed and ducked as a series of loud blasts rang through the crowd'.

Eminem's concert at this year's Bonnaroo music festival left the audience shook, but it was not because the performance was top notch!

"I hate to be the one to say it, but being someone who suffers from very mild PTSD, it was EXTREMELY irresponsible and distasteful to end songs w the shot gun sound effect", said actress and social media personality Andrea Russett in a since-deleted tweet.

"Contrary to inaccurate reports, Eminem does not use gunshot sound effects during his live show".

'I have grown up loving eminem and his music but i was extremely triggered to the point of tears'. Eminem has yet to comment publicly on the issue.

Rapper Eminem has sparked a heated debate online after using "gunshot" sound effects during a live show.

"Being at a festival/concert in these current times brings new concerns & fears", wrote Cristi Williams on Twitter.

Eminem is yet to comment, however, many Slim Shady fans stood up for the legendary rapper as they rebutted the sounds have always been a part of his set, while he's long lobbied for gun control in the US. "He has used this effect - as have hundreds other artists - in his live show for over 10 years, including previous USA festival dates in 2018 without complaint", the rep told People. This is the reality we are living.
