Former PM Mulroney says Trump rage at Trudeau a passing storm

The European Union on Monday backed Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau after US President Donald J. Trump branded the youthful and popular Trudeau as "dishonest" and "weak" following the G7 meeting.

Mulroney, who has a personal relationship with Trump and has been quietly advising the prime minister on how to deal with the mercurial USA president, likened Trump's weekend tirade to "serious summer squalls".

"He really kinda stabbed us in the back", top USA economic advisor Larry Kudlow said of Trudeau on CNN's "State of the Union".

President Donald Trump said Saturday that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has a "one-time shot" to show he's serious about a nuclear disarmament deal.

Trump called Trudeau "dishonest and weak" in very personal attacks on Twitter.

Mr Kudlow suggested Mr Trump saw Mr Trudeau as trying to weaken his hand before that meeting, saying the president will not "let a Canadian prime minister push him around ..."

Members of Parliament gave unanimous consent for a motion backing Canadian steel and aluminium, hit by U.S. tariffs, as well as the supply management system that supports key agriculture sectors, and gave a standing ovation for the government response to the Trump administration's verbal attacks on Trudeau. "And that's what bad-faith Justin Trudeau did with that stunt press conference", White House trade adviser Peter Navarro said during a Fox News interview Sunday.

American Red Cross hopes new campaign brings in more blood donors
The Missing Type campaign is taking place during National Blood Donor Week, which this year is commemorating its 10th anniversary. In her message to commemorate World Blood Donor Day which falls on 14 June 2018, under the theme: Be there for someone else.

"On his comments, I'm going to stay focused on defending jobs for Canadians and supporting Canadian interests", Trudeau said before walking away from reporters.

"Canadians are polite and reasonable but we will also not be pushed around", he said.

Trudeau had told reporters that Trump's decision to invoke national security to justify United States tariffs on steel and aluminum imports was "kind of insulting" to Canadian veterans who had stood by their U.S. allies in conflicts dating back to World War I.

When Trump left Quebec, it was thought that a compromise had been reached, despite the tension and the determination of European leaders Macron and Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany to push back against the USA president's protectionist policies. The tariffs, which also take effect July 1, will last until the US ends its trade action. Mr Trump said the move would protect domestic producers that were vital to United States security.

The Post wrote that Canada "has every right to be insulted". Trump said in a second tweet. "When it comes to trade the U.S. needs Canada and Canada needs the U.S. Our economies are integrated", said Gallant.

"Navarro himself crossed a line, basically telling a leader of a foreign nation that he needs to go to hell.I don't care how mad, how angry you are, you don't treat the head of state of another country like that unless you are getting ready for a military engagement of some kind".

Threatening such a change could be another effort to advance the negotiations in order to secure a congressional vote on a revised deal by the end of the year, according to global law firm Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg.
