Guardiola hits back at Toure's racism jibes

Man City boss Pep Guardiola speaks out on Yaya Toure racism allegations

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has defended himself against Yaya Toure's accusation that he might have a problem with African players.

And when you consider his 316 appearances, scoring 79 goals, you'd think he will be going down as as a true City legend.

The Ivorian lasted two years at Barcelona under Guardiola's managerial tutelage during his Camp Nou reign.

Reacting to Toure's accusations, the City boss told Catalan station TV3: "They were lies and he knows it".

"We have been together during two years".

"It got to the point I asked myself if it was because of my colour".

"They were lies, and he knows it", he said. "I'm not the first, other Barça players asked the question too", Yaya said in the lengthy interview.

Harry and Meghan to visit Australia, Fiji, Tonga and New Zealand
All four countries on the tour are members of the Commonwealth, the 53-nation grouping for which Harry is a youth ambassador. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be in the country for the 2018 Invictus Games , which are being held in Sydney .

Guardiola has since come out to hit back at Toure's claims.

Toure has since made it known that he wants to sign for another Premier League club so that he can compete against City and Guardiola next season, with his agent, Dimitry Seluk, even suggesting his client would sign for a rival team on wages of just £1-a-week, plus bonuses.

"Maybe us Africans aren't always treated the same by certain people".

"When you see that he's had problems with Africans wherever he's been in the past, you wonder".

"He will never admit it but the day he fields a team with five Africans, non-naturalised, I promise that I will send him a cake." he added. He never told me face to face'.

Toure played his final game for City late in the season against Brighton & Hove Albion and was given a tremendous send-off by the Etihad Stadium.
