IOS 12 Could Cure Your iPhone Addiction: Here's How

HomePod-multi-room-support

Analysts believe Apple will try to inject more artificial intelligence and other new powers into Siri to make it more competitive with Google's digital assistant and Amazon's Alexa. While the company debuted new iMacs, iPads, and the HomePod at last year's keynote, this event will likely focus on improvements to the company's software. With that being said, there will be a few new additions like a new Digital Health section in settings according to Bloomberg.

Granted, there's every reason to believe that the two companies have been developing similar software updates for a while now, and it just so happens that Google got to announce its system first.

So what can we expect from Apple next week?

Apple released its ARKit software in 2017, which allows app developers to easily build augmented reality features.

The report notes that these features will arrive as a "prelude" of what's to come from an Apple AR headset planned for as early as 2020. Reuters is reporting that Apple plans to upgrade ARKit, Apple's augmented reality framework for iOS, with the ability for two users to see the same virtual object in space. The underlying goal here is to promote a healthier digital lifestyle by curbing excessive smartphone use. Apparently it'll include a new menu full of tools that will tell you how long you've been using your phone, and how much of it has been spent in certain apps. Put simply, iOS 12 might be interesting, but iOS 13 is where the excitement really lies. A report from Bloomberg that we passed along to you yesterday, revealed Apple's intentions to introduce a mode that will allow for player vs. player AR games on two different iPhone units. Don't expect to see the finished product at WWDC, however. But those won't be ready until later this year, according to people familiar with the plans. This year's Apple watches will keep the size of the current models but include bigger, edge-to-edge screens, while still supporting their predecessors' bands.

All in all, WWDC this year will likely have a slew of interesting announcements, but there doesn't appear to be one singular blockbuster revelation to look forward to.
