IS supporter admits to urging terror attack on Prince George

Thomas's School in Battersea southwest London

Rashid, of Leonard Street in Nelson, Lancashire, had maintained his innocence throughout proceedings at Woolwich Crown Court, but changed his mind almost two weeks into his trial.

On 13 October Rashid used a Telegram chat group to call on supporters to target the four-year-old Prince George who had started school at Thomas's Battersea in south-west London a month earlier.

Prosecutor Rebecca Mundy said: "A post, which we in this country will find particularly worrying, was a photograph of the young Prince George at the beginning of his school term, next to a silhouette of a jihadi fighter".

Rashid, 32, from Nelson, England, copped to three counts of engaging in conduct in preparation for terrorism and one count of encouraging terrorism midway through his criminal trial in Woolwich Crown Court.

Husnain Rashid, who has pleaded guilty to terrorism offences relating to Britain's Prince George, is seen in this undated photograph issued by the Greater Manchester Police in Manchester, Britain, May 31, 2018.

Adjourning sentence, Judge Andrew Lees told him: "For the past week I have listened to the most disturbing allegations".

The prosecutor, Annabel Darlow, said that the message behind Rashid's threat to the heir to the throne was that "Prince George and other members of the royal family should be viewed as targets".

The rest of the royal family was also on a "hitlist" in a "book of terror" Rashid shared online with followers, who called him Rapunzel. He said a very lengthy prison sentence for Husnain was "inevitable" and a life sentence would be considered, according to PA.

Britain's Prince William accompanies his son Prince George on his first day of school at Thomas's school in Battersea, London, September 7, 2017.

This allegedly included a recipe for the poison ricin from the Islamist propaganda magazine Inspire, how to make Molotov cocktails and napalm, and a suggestion of poisoning supermarket ice creams.

He will be sentenced on June 28.

The court also heard that Rashid had also indicated his "intention to travel to Syria", and he had "set up a number of channels on which he broadcasts material to assist terrorists".

He also suggested that he planned to flee to Syria to fight for IS.

Rashid was arrested at his home in November, and "hurled" a phone containing a "treasure trove" into an alleyway when authorities moved in, according to the BBC.
