Led coalition strikes Syrian army positions in Deir ez-Zor province - SANA

Both US-backed Kurdish-led fighters and Russia-supported regime forces are separately fighting the Islamic State jihadist group in Syria's eastern province of Deir Ezzor

The official said the drone bombed Iraqi faction positions between Syrian military positions and Albu Kamal and Tanf.

A US-backed alliance of Kurdish and Arab fighters and Russia-supported regime forces are carrying out separate operations against those IS-held pockets.

He did not rule out that one of the objectives of the attack is to facilitate the transfer of Daesh terrorists from the USA base in Al-Tanf to certain areas in the desert to open new fronts against the Syrian army.

The commander, who is not Syrian and spoke on condition of anonymity, said the strike killed and injured some Iraqi fighters, but did not give a toll.

The US-led coalition has reportedly bombarded a Syrian military position in the country's eastern province of Dayr al-Zawr.

There are unconfirmed reports there were also Hezbollah and Iranian forces at the military base.

USA military spokesman Col. Sean Ryan said the coalition was looking into the reports.

"At 22:00 last night a USA plane hit a fixed headquarters of the Popular Mobilisation Forces' 45th and 46th brigades defending the border strip with Syria, using two guided missiles which led to the martyrdom of 22 fighters", it said in a statement. "We're looking into who that could possibly be, but it wasn't the USA or the coalition".

Damascus says it considers the United States an occupying force in Syria and supports any resistance against U.S. forces. Last week they launching an attack on Boukemal that reached the outskirts of the town before being driven back by Syrian government forces.

At least 38 foreign fighters allied to the Assad regime were killed in an overnight bombing raid near Syria's eastern border with Iraq, a monitor said on Monday.

The coalition's press office said it had received reports of a strike in the area that had killed and wounded Iraqi fighters, but denied it was involved.

"Clashes renewed between SDF fighters, backed by International Coalition warplanes against the last remaining ISIS pocket in the east bank of Euphrates River", the SDF said.
