Lesbian couple booted out of Uber for kissing on the backseat

New York City suspends Uber driver's license for booting kissing women

In a shocking video posted on Facebook, the two women - Emma Pichl, 24, and her girlfriend Alex Iovine, 26 - can be seen being told by driver Ahmad El Boutari that their kiss was "illegal". The couple was heading back to Manhattan on Saturday after celebrating a friend's birthday at a Brooklyn bar. "At one point we leaned over and peck-kissed, very fast". "That's genuinely all it was". And by tidying up after yourself - whether it's taking your trash home or cleaning up a spilled drink - you'll keep the auto in good condition and ensure the next person has a pleasant ride, too.

Iovine said that she had sent a complaint to Uber directly after the incident, but the company did not respond until the Daily News reported the flap. "This doesn't feel right", Iovine said. "But that's not what was going on here".

It was during the ride just over the Manhattan Bridge when the couple says the incident began. The women then threatened to call the police and have the driver fired.

Uber is also investigating the case and said it had suspended the driver's access to its app, The Associated Press reported. "You don't do that".

"It's not illegal to kiss in NY", one of the women told El Boutari.

One of the women said, "What are you fucking talking about? You don't do that here in the vehicle".

After some back and forth, El Boutari apparently grabbed Pichl by the arm to get her phone. Allan Fromberg says it's 2018 and "this isn't the way we live any more".

"We were sitting on opposite sides of the auto", she said.

"It's my own auto".

"Obviously, he's homophobic", she said. "She thought he was joking but he yelled at us for being disrespectful and inappropriate because we pecked on the lips". Elbotari said that he would do the same for a straight couple, but admitted that he has less tolerance for a same-sex couple.

Both women can be heard asking the driver what the "issue" is as they are outside the vehicle.

"Uber does not tolerate any form of discrimination, and we have reached out to the rider regarding her experience", Uber spokeswoman Susan Hendrick said.

"This is an open society and Uber is a platform that is available to anybody regardless of your background, your orientation, and that is sacred to us", Khosrowshahi said.

"It's an unfortunate circumstance and we will do everything we can for that not to repeat".

Meanwhile, Iovine and Pichl say the incident has changed their perspective on being in a same-sex couple in New York City.

"We kind of keep to ourselves".

Elbotari said Iovine is only telling half the story.
