Melania Trump makes surprise visit to US-Mexico border

Melania Trump makes unannounced trip to Texas to visit children separated from their families at border

In a dramatic about face, the Trump administration will stop prosecuting migrant parents who cross the border illegally with children, a new report said Thursday.

"She wants to see what's real", said the first lady's spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham told CNN during a 10-minute press briefing en route to Texas.

The votes come after President Donald Trump's reversal on family separations at the USA and Mexico Border, which was something he touched on at Wednesday night's rally in Duluth.

While Trump told a Wednesday campaign crowd that he'd fixed the family separation issue, his administration has not revealed a plan to reunite at least 1995 children US officials separated from their families.

The first lady landed in McAllen, Texas under a heavy downpour, her motorcade driving through deep water as it headed for the Upbring New Hope Children's Shelter, a federally-funded facility that houses around 60 children from Honduras and El Salvador, ages five to 17.

Melania Trump has gone on a damage-control mission near the Texas border with Mexico, visiting children displaced by the country's immigration crisis and showing a softer side than the hardline policies of her husband, US President Donald Trump.

Mr Trump said yesterday as he signed an order to scrap the policy: "It's about keeping families together while at the same time making sure that we have a very powerful, very strong border".

Trump said Thursday he was directing federal agencies to come up with a way to reunite separated immigrant children with their parents. She called on Congress to work together on immigration legislation that would benefit the children.

For another: the original Daria was so good that I have my doubts it could be improved upon. MTV Studios is also planning some new, non-reboots as well.

"We have a chance", said Carlos Curbelo, of Florida.

Administration officials were unable to clarify whether family separations would end immediately or when and how families now separated would be reunited. "We see them as our own".

The bill would provide President Donald Trump with $25 billion in border security including wall funding in exchange for a path to citizenship for recipients of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, which Trump ended but has been held up in legal limbo.

Mrs. Trump was wearing a different jacket when the plane landed.

When asked what message the first lady's jacket meant to send, spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham said: "It's a jacket".

The first lady's unannounced visit came a day after President Donald Trump - in a stunning about-face - moved to end the practice of splitting migrant families, which had prompted outrage at home and overseas.

He said word got around during President Obama's tenure that those who would illegally try and cross the border with a minor would "given immunity from prosecution".

The administration also has called for a permanent legislative fix but congressional Republicans said the House was likely to reject two immigration bills created to halt the practice of splitting up families and address a range of other immigration issues.
