Technical glitch with American Airlines causes headaches for thousands of travelers

Hundreds stranded at Charlotte airport because of technical issue

A technical issue caused American Airlines to cancel several flights in the region, as well as in Hampton Roads.

American Airlines tweeted to a stranded passenger, "Our partner PSA Airlines is experiencing a technical issue and all flights are canceled".

Hundreds of travelers are stuck at the Charlotte Douglas Airport in Charlotte, N.C., because of a technical glitch, and it's affecting flights here in Arkansas.

American airlines faced an computer outage Wednesday giving hard time to passengers who were unable to check into their flights, buy online tickets and get their boarding passes electronically. "Our team is working hard to resolve the issue as quickly as possible and accommodate customers", American Airlines tweeted.

WSOC reports that thousands of passengers are stranded at Charlotte-Douglas Internation Airport.

"We never want to disrupt our customers' travel plans, and we are sorry for the trouble this caused", a spokesman for American Airlines said.

Be sure to check your flight status before heading to the airport if you're flying American Airlines from Greenville Spartanburg International Airport Friday.

Some flights to and from Toledo Express Airport have been impacted.

Officials did not immediately provide information about what caused the glitch.

Charlotte's airport said in a tweet Friday morning PSA Airlines plans to resume operations at 12 p.m. PSA canceled 275 flights on June 14 and 300 flights June 15.
