White House economic advisor says Justin Trudeau ‘stabbed us in the back’

Was Trudeau wearing fake eyebrows at the G7 summit

Top White House officials ratcheted up their attack on Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau Sunday, accusing him of a "betrayal" and saying there was a "special place in hell" for leaders who cross President Donald Trump, a day after Trudeau's remarks at a news conference led Trump to withdraw support of a Group of 7 agreement with allies.

Trudeau "kind of stabbed us in the back", Kudlow said.

However, Harper, a conservative, said he understands why President Donald Trump believes the US needs better trade relationships with China and aspects of the country's trade relationship with Mexico, particularly its auto sector.

"Fair Trade is now to be called Fool Trade if it is not Reciprocal. Sometimes it seems that the American president thinks that only one side wins and everyone else loses", Merkel said, apparently speaking about Trump's verbal attacks against Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. "Instead, we act then too", Merkel said in an unusually combative tone.

After the conclusion of the summit, Trump again said he would not allow other countries to impose barriers on the United States. "The European Union had a $151 Billion Surplus-should pay much more for Military!"

Trump had arrived in Singapore late on Sunday for the summit with North Korean leader King Jong Un that could lay the groundwork for ending a nuclear stand-off between the old foes.

Hours after leaving the G7 summit on Saturday, Trump took to Twitter to assault the Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's "false statements" and instructed United States representatives to renege on the US' endorsement of the joint communique.

In a tense interview today with CNN's Jake Tapper on "State of the Union", Trump's economic advisor Larry Kudlow lambasted Trudeau.

Trump's trade adviser Peter Navarro also lashed out on Sunday at Trudeau's statements, saying they represent "bad faith".

At issue are US tariffs against Canada and Trudeau's effort to retaliate against its neighbor - as well as Trudeau's comment to reporters that all seven leaders had come together to sign a joint declaration after the G-7 meeting.

"As a representative of IL, a state with one of the most important trade relationships with Canada, I have every desire to see our negotiations with Canada continue productively and beneficially, but Prime Minister Trudeau is sabotaging that cause by driving both sides into their corners instead of encouraging a more diplomatic dialogue", Krishnamoorthi said.

In his news conference, Mr Trudeau had spoken of retaliatory measures that Canada would take next month in response to Mr Trump's decision to slap tariffs on steel and aluminium imports.

"He held a press conference and he said the U.S.is insulting". Instead, he emphasized the need for other countries to reduce their barriers against the United States, such as Canadian duties on USA dairy. And what did Trudeau do as soon as the plane took off from Canadian airspace?

Justin Trudeau and President Trump participate in the working session at the G7 summit on Friday.

"The G7 was a forum for friends - democracies with the same value system - to discuss issues of common interest".

He told Fox News Mr. Trump "did the courtesy to Justin Trudeau to travel up to Quebec for that summit".

A French official insisted France and its fellow G7 European nations were maintaining their support for the communique and said anyone departing from the commitments made at the summit would be showing their "incoherence and inconsistency".
