Apologised to Theresa May over fake interview

President Donald Trump is dishing up a fresh dose of chaos on his European tour, blasting British Prime Minister Theresa May in a published interview.

When asked about the comments, May's spokesman said she was looking forward to sitting down with Trump to talk him through the negotiating stance.

"I have a lot of respect for the prime minister", Trump said. We're not a country of hatred and violence; if you go back 50 years in America, we thought the country was going back.

Johnson, who led the main Brexit campaign in the 2016 referendum, resigned as foreign minister on Monday over May's strategy which he said was killing the "Brexit dream" with self-doubt.

Recalling that visit during the press conference on Friday, he said there had been "an unbelievably large number of reporters there", adding: "I guess everybody was there because of Brexit".

"Fortunately, we tend to record stories now, so we have it for your enjoyment if you like it".

One for example, read "God save the Queen from an orange tangerine", the report added.

"It's called Fake News", he said.

Mr Trump was also full of praise for the Prime Minister, saying: "She's a very tough negotiator".

"It is totally ridiculous to say any such thing".

Trump, Merkel Have ‘Great Meeting’ At NATO Summit With Markedly Different Tone
But Ushakov told reporters on Friday that the USA side in the summit may raise the issue of alleged election meddling. "I don't think you'll have any 'Gee, I did it". "I really believe, that when he tells me that, he means it".

"I didn't criticise the PM", Trump said at a press conference at the prime minister's official retreat in Chequers on Friday afternoon.

It added: "It was the latest global incident to erupt during Trump's brief sojourn overseas, which kicked off with incendiary comments that upended a North Atlantic Treaty Organisation summit in Brussels and further strained relationships with longtime USA allies".

"It gives them an extra line of argument to say: well we were onto this trade deal but the Prime Minister constrained our hands and therefore we need to change course". "I actually told Theresa May how to do it, but she didn't listen to me".

"If they go in a slightly different route, I hope you're going to be able to trade with the US", Trump said.

Trump labeled the U.S. -U.K. relationship "the highest level of special" and said May was an "incredible woman" doing a great job.

President Donald Trump nearly never apologizes, which makes his comment that he had tried to apologize to Theresa May, albeit without admitting he did anything wrong and wrapped in a shot at the press, so interesting.

The president and first lady are to meet the Queen this Friday afternoon.

The president said Mrs May "can't walk away" from exit talks with the European Union, though suggested she could use other methods to secure a good deal.

"He doesn't represent the American people I'm sure. I'll be over there just as the decision's coming in", he said.
