Carmelo Anthony Granted Permission To Meet With Rockets, Heat

ClutchPoints

Given the recent news that Carmelo Anthony and the Oklahoma City Thunder are planning to part ways this summer, attention has shifted to his next destination.

Free agent forward Luc Richard Mbah a Moute has signed a one-year deal to play with the Los Angeles Clippers. "The Rockets plan to pursue forward Carmelo Anthony after his expected departure from the Thunder via being waived or bought out, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski".

But the Heat has become a consideration because Anthony is said to like South Florida and the Heat organization and because of his friendship with Heat guard Dwyane Wade, who remains an unsigned free agent.

Anthony and the Thunder are working towards a buyout though he could also be traded and waived thereafter.

Anthony opted into the final year of his near $28m deal last month, contributing to a dangerously-inflated payroll that now sits at around $310m in OKC.

Trump says NATO countries should 'reimburse' US for defense costs
The two are due to meet in Helsinki on July 16 following Mr Trump's visit to the United Kingdom at the end of the week. As you might expect of the world's only military superpower, the United States pays more than others.

If Anthony signed with Miami, he would be eligible to receive the $2.4 million veteran's minimum, the $3.4 million biannual exception or the $5.3 million taxypayer midlevel exception.

Melo could rewrite history with the Rockets, as he could be the piece they need to finally topple the Warriors and he could, at last, get the chance to win that championship ring that has eluded him for so long.

The 34-year-old is coming off his worst season in the National Basketball Association, as he posted career lows in scoring average and field goal percentage last season.

The 10-time All-Star shot 35.7 per cent on three-pointers a year ago, failing to increase his efficiency from the previous season, 34.7 per cent, despite playing alongside Paul George and Russell Westbrook.

Anthony expressed to the Thunder at the end of the team's playoff run he would not accept a bench role.
