Charles Oakley arrested in Las Vegas after allegedly cheating at casino

It's not known what game Oakley was playing at The Cosmopolitan, but TMZ reported the incident was captured on surveillance video.

Nevada Gaming Control Board officials confirmed to TMZ that the longtime New York Knicks standout was "suspected of adding to or reducing his wager on a gambling game after the outcome was known", which the casino's security team is said to have later confirmed via video.

Charles Oakley reportedly has new legal trouble.

National Basketball Association legend Charles Oakley was reportedly arrested at the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas earlier this week for allegedly trying to cheat the casino.

Sounds like the Cosmopolitan is trying to make an example out of or embarrass Oakley.

Oak's gambling charge is serious business - "to commit or attempt to commit a fraudulent act in a gaming establishment". He was then booked at Clark County Detention Center at about 5:30 p.m. local time. If convicted, he faces one to six years in prison. In a statement to ESPN, Oakley's attorney said "This is not a significant matter and we expect it to be resolved quickly".

Oakley's Las Vegas arrest comes after a high-profile spat with the Knicks past year following his forcible ejection from Madison Square Garden during a game in February.

Oakley played for the Knicks from 1988 until 1998, helping them reach the 1994 NBA Finals alongside Patrick Ewing, John Starks, the late Anthony Mason and head coach Pat Riley. The charges against Oakley were later cleared as part of an agreement, which included banning him from the arena for a year.
