Divers prepare to resume Thai cave rescue

General of the Public Health Ministry Thongchai Lertwilairattanapong, Dr. Jesada Chokedamrongsuk and director of Chiang Rai Hospital Dr. Chaiwet Thanapaisan

Officials said all eight of the boys were healthy, though two of the four brought out Monday did have swollen lungs. "This was a mission impossible that we have accomplished". However, doctors later relented after some of the boys asked for bread with chocolate topping.

Families of the first four have been able to see their children through a glass window, Chokedamrongsook said.

The eight boys already evacuated from the cave over the weekend are being held in isolation - and aren't even allowed to hug their parents - as doctors assess them for histoplasmosis and other conditions.

Nargonsak said this phase may take longer than the previous two rescue missions, which took up to 11 hours. Rescuers say they will extract the rest of the squad and their coach on Tuesday as heavy rains return. ABC News identified the Wild Boar soccer team players Mongkol Boonbiam, Songpong Jaiwong, Ponchai Kumluang, Pipat Pothi, Duangpetch Promthep, Adul Samon, Panumat Sangdee, Peerapat Sompiangjai, Prajak Sutham, Nuttawut Takamsong, Chanin Wiboonrungrueng and Eakkarat Wongsukchan.

The boys rescued so far are in good overall health despite spending two weeks in the dank cave system, said Jesada Chokedamrongsuk, permanent secretary of the ministry of public health, at a news conference in Chiang Rai.

The operation led by British cave divers alongside Thai Navy SEALs will have to return to the cave tomorrow, racing time, dropping oxygen levels and the rains, to rescue the remaining four boys and their coach. "Everyone is in high spirits and is happy to get out. We have set the plan for four people so if they want to take five out (at the same time), then they need to change the plan".

The charges against Oakley were later cleared as part of an agreement, which included banning him from the arena for a year. In a statement to ESPN , Oakley's attorney said "This is not a significant matter and we expect it to be resolved quickly".

Postcards, letters and drawings from around Thailand have been pouring into a local government office near the cave that is being used as the media and volunteer center.

"Please get out fast!" read another.

He was tasked with giving the medical all-clear for each evacuation, and decided what order the boys would leave the cave in.

The Space-X and Tesla founder arrived in Thailand with a miniature "kid sized" submarine Monday.

"Just returned from Cave 3". It is now unclear whether Musk or his technology will be used in the rescue efforts, but Musk confirmed via tweet that the submarine is in Thailand and ready to be used if needed.

Tech inventor Elon Musk has developed a "tiny, kid-size submarine" that could help rescue the four boys and their soccer coach who remain trapped in a flooded cave in Thailand. He said he left the equipment there in case rescuers could use it in the future.
