Donald Trump 'fine' with protests as United Kingdom visit begins

The Queen to meet President Trump and First Lady at Windsor Castle on Friday

"I don't know (if) that is what they voted for", he added.

Mr Trump has recently been under fire for his immigration police which saw the separation of immigrant families and caused wide-spread anger.

He said Britain was "a pretty hot spot right now with a lot of resignations".

But Brexit champion Nigel Farage, a critic of May's Brexit plans - formally unveiled in a policy paper Thursday -predicted there would be "confrontation" on the visit.

After a North Atlantic Treaty Organisation summit where he provoked a crisis session to force allies to raise their defence spending, Trump landed in Britain for his first visit as president having described the closest U.S. ally in Europe as being in turmoil over Brexit.

He was met at Stansted Airport by dignitaries including International Trade Secretary Liam Fox and the United States ambassador Woody Johnson.

The prime minister will host a gala dinner and a meeting with Trump, giving them time to talk.

Trump also once spread a rumor in NY - printed in the city's tabloids - that Diana and Prince Charles were interested in purchasing a $5 million condo in Trump Tower.

Despite not being an official state visit, the Government is desperate to ensure the U.S. leader feels he is being treated with the appropriate level of pomp and ceremony.

Hailing a future trade deal once Britain is free of the European Union, she said that Brexit is "an opportunity to tear down the bureaucratic barriers that frustrate business leaders on both sides of the Atlantic".

"If they do a deal like that, we would be dealing with the European Union instead of dealing with the United Kingdom, so it will probably kill the deal", said Trump.

Trump will depart Britain Friday for Finland to prepare for a summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin Monday in Helsinki.

"Give us your tired and your oppressed and we'll divide you from your children", he said of Trump's policies.

Protests are also anticipated in Britain, where the Stand Up to Trump group prepared for a "Carnival of Resistance".

Only one person, the digital entrepreneur and philanthropist Baroness Martha Lane-Fox, has publicly refused the invitation.

Air Force One lands at Stansted Airport.

Ahead of Trump's arrival, the U.S. embassy advised USA citizens in London to "keep a low profile" during Trump's visit. This part of the visit is being considered private.

But despite all the mass protests planned for his visit - the first of which are now taking place outside Winfield House, where the President spent the afternoon - he declared "people like me there".

The poll is "noticeably higher than in previous YouGov polls that asked about a state rather than a working visit", YouGov wrote in an analysis.

The Police Commissioner for Lincolnshire later tweeted that "sadly" there were reports officers who put photographs of the "sorry conditions" on social media were being "sought out". Demonstrations are also expected outside both of his golf resorts.

Earlier on Thursday, Trump said he believes London citizens "like me a lot", despite reports of multiple planned protests against him, including a protest involving a 20-foot-tall inflatable baby bearing his face that was scheduled to be flown during his visit. Having the balloon fly in Turnberry would virtually guarantee that the President could view his puerile form.
