Donald who? Putin doesn't remember Trump in Moscow

"He was nearly was reading this, very much an example of a White House in damage control mode, where the communications team has worked very hard to parse the statement of the president in Helsinki and try to turn it into something other than what many people believe they witnessed - and that was a president standing apart from his intelligence agencies and the conclusion that Russian Federation meddled in the 2016 United States election", said Halkett.

"Yes, I did hear these rumors that we allegedly collected compromising material on Mr. Trump when he was visiting Moscow", Putin said in the Monday press conference.

His comment came - amid rising rebuke by his own party - about 27 hours after his original, widely reported statement.

It has led to the revival of claims that Putin has compromising information on Trump, and that he is using it to make the president bend to his will.

Trump told reporters Tuesday at the White House that he misspoke at the summit.

Trump promptly rewarded him with a tweet that proclaimed "you really get it" as he watched the reviews of his performance in Helsinki roll in. "I accept our intelligence community's conclusion that Russia's meddling in the 2016 election took place", he said.

"My administration will repeal any attempt to interfere in our elections", he said.

Even so, he added that the meddling in the 2016 election "could be other people also".

Blind heading back to Ajax after United agree terms
A statement on their website reads : " Manchester United has agreed terms with Ajax for the transfer of Daley Blind ". Daley Blind was brought over under Louis van Gaal, and he was a favorite for selection by his country man.

But minority Democrats have few tools to push their priorities.

The White House did not fill the airways on Tuesday to explain why Trump aligned himself with Putin, as lawmakers in both major parties filled the time to berate him for suggestion that he believes Putin's denial of interfering in the 2016 elections.

He vowed to "repel" any future efforts to Russian Federation to interfere in American elections and democracy.

His remarks, siding with a foe on foreign soil over his own government, was a stark illustration of Trump's willingness to upend decades of US foreign policy and rattle Western allies in service of his political concerns.

The New York Times also reports that "Trump's mood grew foul as the breadth of the critical reactions became clear" during the Air Force One flight back to Washington, with aides steering clear of the front of the plane "to avoid being tapped for a venting session" with Trump. "If the Foreign Affairs Committee or Financial Services Committee and the Senate Banking Committee think that there are other sanctions that we have not placed upon Russian Federation, I'm more than happy to consider those", Ryan said, stopping short of calling for more sanctions himself.

Dan Coats, Trump's own national intelligence director, took the remarkable step of issuing his own statement that refuted the president following the press conference. "And I don't think I need to point out that, at 54, there's not a lot of core left". Trump said he would be taking meetings and calls while at the resort.

He said he some of his comments in Helsinki needed "clarification".

Trump's repeated warm words for Russian Federation were a marked contrast from the past week when he repeatedly rebuked traditional US allies at a summit of North Atlantic Treaty Organisation and a visit to Britain.
