Ford F-150 Limited gets Raptor's 450-horsepower engine

2019 Ford F-150 Limited arrives with Raptor-sourced V6

The automaker announced Thursday that its 2019 F-150 Limited will gain the Raptor's 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V-6. Looking from the outside, though, you wouldn't know that the F-150 Limited packs that much power.

Ford is stuffing the F-150 Raptor's high-output engine into the F-150 Limited, giving the classy pickup truck some rabid power.

For the new model year, F-150 buyers won't have to opt for the Raptor to receive 450 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque.

Visually, the Limited sports 22-inch wheels and raised lettering on the hood, not to mention a satin finish grille and tailgate applique, window trim, and door handles. There is real ash-swirl wood trim, aluminum-wrapped bezels and more special detailing like the suede headliner. An integrated trailer brake controller is a standard, along with a 360-degree camera with split-view display. A dual exhaust system sends the uprated engine's hydrocarbons into the atmosphere.

Ford truck group marketing manager Todd Eckert said: "F-150 Limited customers create their own success". There are new Camel Back two-tone leather seats and multicontour front seats with a massaging function. "They wanted more power, so we combined Raptor's engine with Limited's business-class features to deliver Baja fierceness, boardroom style and the grit to tackle tough jobs".

The Standard Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking can help drivers to avoid or mitigate collisions with other vehicles and pedestrians.

Ford also didn't say if the uprated engine will boost the F-150's towing rating. The Sync infotainment system still gets Apple CarPlay and Android Auto included, and a B&O Play audio system comes standard as well.
