Had Damaging Information On Donald Trump, Says FBI Agent Peter Strzok

FBI agent gets applause in contentious hearing after forceful defense of agency

"This is the first time I've seen Congress as frustrated with Congress as we are!"

Page and Peter Strzok, who testified publicly in a fiery marathon hearing on Capitol Hill on Thursday, are at the center of Republican concern about political bias at the FBI and Justice Department regarding the handling of the Hillary Clinton email investigation and the Trump-Russia probe into the 2016 presidential campaign. "What does Trump support smell like Mister Strzok?" California Rep. Darrell Issa made Strzok read out his own texts, including some with profane language and one that calls Trump a "disaster". Multiple GOP lawmakers, including Goodlatte and Gowdy, pointed out that Page has known for more than six months that the committees wanted to interview her; they also argued that she had all the information she needed for an unclassified interview far earlier in the day Tuesday than her lawyer claimed. "If I could give you a Purple Heart, I would", said Rep. Steve Cohen (D-TN).

"Most disturbingly, it has been wildly successful - sowing discord in our nation and shaking faith in our institutions".

Strzok struck a combative tone throughout the hearing, telling congressmen, "Today's hearing is just another victory notch in Putin's belt and another milestone in our enemies' campaign to tear America apart".

Horowitz, however, concluded that the political views of those agents did not affect the conclusions of the Clinton investigation.

Gowdy seized on one message that has received particular attention from right-wing media outlets, an August 8, 2016, text in which Strzok, discussing with Page the prospect of a Trump win, says, "No. So, I take great offence, and I take great disagreement to your assertion of what that was or wasn't".

Giants snag touted cornerback in NFL's supplemental draft
Perhaps, the reason why the Texans haven't selected anyone in the supplemental draft since them is that neither turned out great. Teams can bid a future draft pick for a player and they will be awarded that player if no teams above them put in a bid first.

Strzok wound up where he begun, with a condemnation of the partisan attacks on the Justice Department and FBI he said had been corrosive of Americans' trust in federal law enforcement. "It simply couldn't happen".

The hearing exposed clear partisan divides in the House judiciary and oversight committees, as Democrats accused Republicans of trying to divert attention from Trump's ties to Russian Federation by excessively focusing on Strzok.

"Mr. Strzok, are you starting to understand why some folks out there don't believe a word you say?" said Rep. John Ratcliffe, R-Texas. "I never think that works well for a witness", the host continued. The 2008 Republican presidential candidate has repeatedly challenged Mueller's appointment and claimed no collusion took place between the Trump campaign and Russian Federation, while personally attacking Mueller and any findings of his probe. Gohmert speculated about whether he looked "so innocent" when he looked into his wife's eyes and lied about the affair. "Aw, Mr. Chairman, this is outrageous", one Democrat complained. Gohmert took the questioning to a whole new level in pointing out that Strzok was having an extramarital affair with Page. Gohmert tried to shout over him and the committee chairman vainly tried to restore order.

But Republicans insisted Strzok's testimony showed the extent to which bias infected the Russian Federation inquiry. "Page had texted him, "(Trump's) not ever going to become president, right?

Page left the bureau in May.
