Harrogate protest rally against President Trump's United Kingdom visit

TURNBERRY, Scotland - President Donald Trump, at his luxury seaside golf course here, turned his eye to domestic politics Saturday morning - attacking former President Barack Obama, questioning the Federal Bureau of Investigation, torching CNN and bragging about his 2016 win.

"The weather is lovely, and this place is incredible!"

Trump is set to depart Scotland on Sunday (July 15) for a meeting with the Russian leader Vladimir Putin in Helsinki, Finland.

Wearing a baseball cap emblazoned with "USA" for a round of golf, Trump at one point waved at dozens of protesters who were chanting "No Trump!" just a few hundred yards away from a beach beside his Trump Turnberry course. He was also seen posing for photos.

A line of police, some on horseback, stood between the course and protesters.

"There are armed assets protecting the president-both from the US Secret Service and ourselves and the Met Police, who offer a close protection function as well".

President Trump took to the links at his Turnberry golf course today as thousands of people across Scotland continued the protests against him that began in London yesterday.

Greenpeace flew a paraglider with a banner message saying "Trump Well Below Par" above the resort on Friday evening.

Anti-fascist groups and political activists were joined by many others who said they had never demonstrated before.

Flying restrictions have been put in place around the resort and nearby Glasgow Prestwick Airport, which was bought by Scottish ministers in 2013.

"The horrific scenes at the Mexican border are just the latest example of his repudiation of decent human values".

In an uproarious trip to Europe, Trump harangued members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation military alliance, scolded Germany for its dependence on Russian energy and shocked Britain by publicly criticising Prime Minister Theresa May's Brexit strategy.

In his weekend tweets, Mr Trump tried to blame former President Barack Obama for failing to stop the Russians from working to help him win the 2016 election.

President Trump announced his arrival in Scotland via Twitter early Saturday.

Trump has denied any collusion with Russia and has repeatedly cited Putin's denials of any Russian interference in the campaign, suggesting there is little or nothing he can do to demand accountability for the alleged meddling.

He told protesters: "Donald Trump is not welcome here".

"I will absolutely bring that up".

"She's a very smart, very tough, very capable person and I would much rather have her as my friend than my enemy, that I can tell you", he added. "I did it. You got me", Mr Trump said, referring to Mr Putin.

And John McCain, a leading Republican senator and Trump critic, said Mr Trump must hold Mr Putin accountable or not proceed with the meeting.

They didn't! But they did say I already lost in my meeting with Putin.

The same "Baby Donald" balloon flew Friday over anti-Trump protests in London, where thousands crammed the streets of the British capital to vent their anger over Trump's first official visit to Britain. "Had nothing to do with the Trump Administration, but Fake News doesn't want to report the truth, as usual!" the president said in another tweet later in the day. In fact, CNN did cover the exchange of words and interviewed Acosta on air about what happened. Perhaps we should even the playing field next time and you can take my question.
