Kerber stuns Serena to win Wimbledon title

I'm just me and that's all I can be, I tried, but Angelique played really well, out of her mind, and I look forward to continuing to be out here. "Keep taking giant steps, but keep improving".

"We've always had a wonderful friendship", Williams said of her friendship with Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, earlier this week.

The tennis champion reached her 10th Wimbledon final in just her 13th match since giving birth to daughter Olympia a year ago. But our friendship is still exactly the same. "I want to get as many as I can, starting with - I still have a match to win, so I'm not even there yet".

"Now she's supporting me in a different role". I was waiting for it for a long time.

Williams holds a 6-2 career record against Kerber, and the German is well aware she's facing a tough battle to lift her third grand slam trophy. Williams first came back by playing doubles with her older sister, Venus, for the U.S. Fed Cup team in February.

Next was a first-round loss at Miami.

To be perfectly honest, I haven't thought about that this tournament. "It's been a insane 10 months", Williams said. "I know that sounds weird, but I worked out a lot and I worked hard".

Kerber, a two-time Grand Slam champion, is playing in her first major final since her triumph at the 2016 US Open.

The Palace also added that Kate, a Wimbledon Patron and long-time guest at the tournament, along with her husband William will be attending the Gentlemen's Singles Final on Sunday 15th July.

The two duchesses will be watching an important game at the Ladies' Singles Final, with Williams up against Germany's Angelique Kerber.

They've played each other a total of eight times in the past, and Williams leads 6-2.

Kerber looked impeccable during her 6-3, 6-3 win over Ostapenko where she dragged her young opponent all across the court.

The crowd were clearly wanting to see history made and any support Kerber had was subdued.
