Lakers will meet with Clint Capela

Chris Paul found something special in Houston helping lead the team to the NBA’s best regular season record. More

Paul George announced in a video that he would return to the Oklahoma City Thunder next season.

All signs pointed towards Paul returning to Houston, but there was still a collective sigh of relief among Rockets fans when the news confirmed that he was staying.

Paul, a nine-time All-Star, and MVP James Harden elevated the Rockets to the best record in the National Basketball Association (65-17) this season before losing a seven-game series to Golden State in the conference finals.

Chris Paul says he's staying with the Houston Rockets. With Houston's top priority taken care of, they'll now focus their attention on the big man in the middle.

TNT's David Aldridge reported Sunday that the Lakers will have a meeting with Houston Rockets center Clint Capela, who's a restricted free agent. But, in a blow for the team, news did break later in the evening that versatile forward Trevor Ariza would be moving on to sign a one-year $15 million deal with the Suns.

Capela seemingly benefited from Paul's arrival, as he played a role similar to what DeAndre Jordan did with Paul in L.A.

Houston is expected to match any offer Capela receives.

The nine-time All Star was hugely influential in his first season in Houston, averaging 18.6 points and 7.9 rebounds per game whilst propelling the Rockets to an NBA-best 65-17 record alongside league MVP James Harden in the backcourt. He made 65.3 percent of his field goal attempts, which led the National Basketball Association.

Capela has started 133 games over the last two seasons.
