LeBron James Agrees To Sign Four-Year, $154M Deal With Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers signed four-time MVP and three-time NBA Finals MVP LeBron James to a four-year deal Sunday evening, the first day that NBA teams are allowed to agree to terms on deals in free agency.

LeBron James, pictured November 1, 2017 in Cleveland, left the Cleveland Cavaliers to sign with the Los Angeles Lakers.

James spent four season in Cleveland after winning 2-Championships in Miami.

The three-time National Basketball Association champion was selected by the Cavaliers in 2003 as the first pick in the National Basketball Association draft and established himself as one of the league's best players.

The concept of James joining the Lakers included teaming with Paul George, a hometown high scoring forward, and perhaps either guard Chris Paul or Kawhi Leonard, another forward who is seeking a trade from the San Antonio Spurs and has his eyes on Los Angeles.

All of these star-studded, playoff-bound teams in the West will have to fight through each other in order to get to the NBA Finals.

James bid farewell to Cleveland via his Instagram account.

LeBron James is taking his talents to Hollywood.

Once James committed to the Lakers, Stephenson was a top player on the team's priority list.

James' four-year, $154 million contract will net him over $35 million each season, according to Bobby Marks of ESPN.

He then opted out of the final two years of his Miami contract and returned to Cleveland. If that figure holds this time around, the Wine and Gold's worth could shrink by more than $300 million.

In the year leading up to James' highly anticipated free agency, the Lakers had been touted as one of his most likely destinations.

Embiid posted a message on Twitter that seemed to be directed at No. 23 and what it might be like to walk in the footsteps of Lakers legends like Johnson, Kobe Bryant, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Wilt Chamberlain, Jerry West and Shaquille O'Neal.

For now, though, he's not attached to anyone.
