Lovren ready for Kane test at World Cup

Jordan Henderson and Dejan Lovren

Lovren's Croatia team defeated England in Wednesday's World Cup semi-final to take their place in the Moscow showpiece against France.

Klopp's comments come after Lovren claimed that based on his recent exploits, including with the Reds in the Champions League, people should view him as one of the world's best defenders.

Lovren came in for criticism in the first-half of last season, in particular when he was hooked half-an-hour into a 4-1 defeat by Tottenham at Wembley.

"I really don't understand these questions, always looking back to where I made some mistakes", he said.

"He will be under the most glaring spotlight imaginable as he leads the Croatia defence in their World Cup semi-final against England, and the sight of Harry Kane lining up against him once again might just unnerve him".

May presses on with Brexit plans
Davis himself expressed regret that Johnson had quit, and said it would be "wrong" for his departure to trigger a major rebellion. May named one of her most loyal ministers, Jeremy Hunt , to replace Johnson in the job of Britain's top diplomat.

Lovren's part in Croatia's most famous World Cup run comes two years after he found himself frozen out of the national team set-up, following a disagreement with then-coach Ante Cacic.

"This is something we will never forget. People are crying in our country", he added. We will never forget this. We beat our record 20 years ago and we had it on our shoulders all the time, this weight I would say and people now will never forget us.

'We have the chance to do something better, and hopefully we can do it on Sunday.

"It was quite tough first half, we couldn't control the ball and they had some chances, but in the second half we did much better".

The England central defender has seen his stock rise no end after a magnificent World Cup where his performances have helped his country to the last four of the tournament. "After everything that's been said before the game, we showed our character and that we deserve to be in the final".
