Man. City furious with Napoli over Jorginho deal with Chelsea

Former Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri replaces Antonio Conte as Chelsea head coach

Chelsea's board has confirmed Maurizio Saari has put a pen on a 3-year contract and will replace Chelsea's struggling former boss Antonio Conte, who was relieved from managerial duty on Friday.

"Last season was distorted and snatched from us: we belong to what [former Italian actor] Toto called "The Band of Honest Men" [the film]", he said.

The 59-year-old is wasting no time in bolstering his squad, with Chelsea announcing the signing of Jorginho from Napoli in a deal worth up to £57m.

In all three of his seasons in charge in Naples, Sarri led the club into the Champions League, with two second-place and one third-place finish in Serie A.

However, a meeting between Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis and Roman Abramovich appears to have swung things in Chelsea's way.

The 27-year-old started all three games for Senegal at the World Cup with the African nation only exiting the tournament on fair play rules behind Japan, and attention for him could now turn to his club future.

It has been reported that the Premier League have spent 60 million euros on the midfielder, who was previously close to joining Manchester City.

We are delighted Jorginho has chosen to join Chelsea.

He continued: "Chelsea do seem to have a problem with the futures of Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois - they are their two biggest players alongside N'Golo Kante".

The Sunday Mirror claim Napoli are demanding £80m for the Senegal worldwide in an attempt to ward off Chelsea, who have been linked with him during successive transfer windows.

"I hope we can provide some entertaining football for our fans, and that we will be competing for trophies at the end of the season, which is what this club deserves", he said.
