Man With World's Longest Fingernails Cuts Them After 66yrs

No word on how Chillal is adapting to the lighter load on his left hand, but life just became easier for him in many ways.

Shridhar Chillal of India displays his newly cut fingernails in front of his granddaughter Shraddha Chillal.

The 82-year-old record holder managed to get his nails to grow a collective length of about 29 feet, 10 inches before being officially honored by Guinness in November 2014. But they weren't destroyed: Chillal ultimately did away with the nails after New York City's Ripley's Believe It or Not!

"It was a very hard decision for me to cut my nails but when I realized that, after cutting them, they'll be at Ripley's Believe It or Not! and the museum is going to maintain them very nicely and for a lifetime, then I felt that I was making the right decision and that is why I chose to cut my nails", Chillal told reporters at the museum, which now has 66 years' worth of uncut nails on display.

Beginning with his curling, 6.5-foot long thumb nail, the nails were removed with a mini power saw, as seen in a Guinness World Records video.

France midfielder Paul Pogba ready to make sacrifices for the team's cause
They lost the 2016 Euro final 1-0 to Portugal at Stade de France with a roster that included nine holdovers on this year's team. The wall jumped but Trippier's shot had enough height and pace to careen into the Croatian net and England were in ecstasy.

This is the moment that he finally said goodbye to his record-breaking nails. The teacher told Chillal that he wouldn't understand the kind of care it took not to break a long nail unless he did it himself.

He only grew the nails on his left hand.

"I spent 66 years of my life on my nails", Mr Chillal said.

The weight and length of Chillal's fingernails made him lose function in his left hand. Well, he says that when he was 14, he was playing outside his school with a friend and accidentally knocked into his teacher who had grown the nail on their little finger very long as a cultural tradition.

They were cut by power tools at a ceremony in NY on Wednesday. Ripley's has flown Chillal from India to the United States to cut his nails and forever memorialise them in a Ripley's Believe It or Not! museum.
