Manchester United 'to include Matteo Darmian in Ivan Perisic deal'

Alexis Sanchez hints visa issue sorted as United States trip beckons

Alexis Sanchez was not on Manchester United's flight to the United States because of difficulties getting a travel visa, sources have told ESPN FC.

Sanchez arrived at Old Trafford in January in a swap deal which saw Henrikh Mkhitaryan move in the opposite direction, but scored only three goals in 18 appearances in all competitions.

Under US law, those found guilty of fraud can be denied a visa to enter the country.

United open their pre-season campaign against Mexican side Club America on Friday (kick-off 03:00 BST).

United's summer schedule includes International Champions Cup fixtures against AC Milan, Liverpool and Real Madrid before they return to Europe to face Bayern Munich in Germany in their final game before the competitive season begins.

Manchester United kick off the 2018-19 season when they face Leicester City on August 10, which United boss Mourinho says does not allow sufficient time for players featuring at the World Cup in Russian Federation to rest and then recover their fitness.

Sanchez was pictured relaxing with some friends in Cheshire on the day of United's flight to California.

Perisic would cost £48m and the Red Devils would be in with a fight to lure the 29-year-old away from Inter. Lee Grant, a summer signing from Stoke, and Joel Pereira were the goalkeepers involved in the session.

NAIJ.com previously reported that Alexis Sanchez may be sentenced to jail for evading taxes worth over €980,000 between 2012 and 2013 when he was a Barcelona player.
