Modric Expects Ronaldo to Stay at Real Madrid

Cristiano Ronaldo

The Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo could make a stunning £88m move to the Italian champions this summer.

That's all well and good but how on earth do Real Madrid go about replacing Ronaldo?

The 33-year-old will be tasked with bringing European Cup glory back to Serie A champions Juve, who have been runners-up in two of the past four seasons.

Ronaldo is in Greece, after the World Cup elimination, enjoying family holiday time, and has not spoken on the matter.

Reports also suggest that Los Blancos president Florentino Perez will demand that the Portugese captain appear at a press conference to announce his departure from the Santiago Bernabeu, .

"You tell me whether it's a joke or not, but for me, I'm serious [that Ronaldo would be one of two big transfers]".

For the moment, it is unclear just who will replace Ronaldo in the squad this summer, but everything points to Chelsea and Belgium star Eden Hazard, who has always been a target for the club.

There are multiple reports from Spain, Portugal and Italy that a deal is done for €100m, for the33 year-old, five-time Ballon d'Or victor to move to Turin.

The Belgian is now on World Cup duty in Russian Federation.

Ronaldo joined Real from Manchester United for £80m in 2009 and scored a club-record 451 goals and won the Ballon D'Or - awarded to the world's best footballer - in 2008, 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2017.

Modric was speaking after his Croatia side booked their place in the World Cup semi finals after beating Russian Federation on penalties. "As I have said at least 100 times, I am at Chelsea and for the moment nobody has made me an offer".

Ronaldo has been linked with a move away from Madrid virtually every summer over the last couple of years, with rumors of malaise surfacing before being swiftly quashed by an improved contract.
