Not Good: Samsung Phones Texting Photos to Random People

Samsung's logo is seen on a building during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona Spain on Feb. 25 2018

Another referenced the self-immolation of Note 7s debacle by stating: "Give me a spontaneously exploding phone any day of the week, Samsung, instead of this nightmare scenario". You will have full texting capabilities and you don't have to look back, in case Samsung lost your trust forever.

You could try using a different texting app and/or revoking the Samsung Messages' app's photo permissions to be safe. "However, there was record of it on mobile logs", one Redditor posted less than a week ago.

IN A DISTURBING development for anyone with photos on their phone and their boss's phone number, the world's largest smartphone maker is investigating claims its handsets have started sending private photos to phone contacts at random. "Why would this happen?" .

Samsung has acknowledged the issue in a statement released to U.S. outlets such as The Washington Post: "We are aware of the reports regarding this matter and our technical teams are looking into it".

So far, some of the affected users have pointed fingers to a recent T-Mobile update that including advanced texting features, like read receipts and an indicator that shows when the contact you're messaging is typing. Is T-Mobile your carrier?

If you're using Samsung's Messages software, and are anxious about unapproved picture texts, find the application in the apps section of your device's settings, then go into its permissions, and disable access to storage. Until then, there are two easy fixes for the concerned users: 1.

They added that they had enabled a setting allowing pictures to be automatically backed-up to Google, and suspected that the leak occurred because of an update to the Samsung Messages app.

Kind of ridiculous to have to worry about this, but until it's patched you're taking a risk otherwise.
