Trump, Merkel Have ‘Great Meeting’ At NATO Summit With Markedly Different Tone

"I don't think you'll have any 'Gee, I did it". "I really believe, that when he tells me that, he means it".

Trump did not criticize the actions of the Russian spies nor President Vladimir Putin, who he will see on Monday in Helsinki, for a meeting and news conference that many of Trump's advisers have warned against.

Trump and Putin, who control the world's two biggest nuclear arsenals, are due to meet in the Finnish capital, a venue that evokes memories of Cold War showdowns between the Soviet Union and the United States.

Allies emerged confused and shaken from a two-day North Atlantic Treaty Organisation summit in which Trump harangued them over perceived under- spending on defense, accused Germany of being a prisoner to Russian energy and prompted an emergency meeting of leaders trying to contain the fallout from the unexpected tirade at one session.

In a statement following the filing, the Health and Human Services (HHS) Department HHS spokeswoman Evelyn Stauffer said: "This number represents the total possible cohort of minors who could potentially be subject to the court order, and, based on past experience, includes a significant number of minors who cannot or should not be reunified with the adults in question".

Alluding to Trump's comments about Germany, Kerry also said that "European energy security is an important topic for allies to discuss, even when they disagree".

Some Democrats echoed McCain's call for Trump to challenge Putin over election meddling, particularly now that he is armed with information from the latest Mueller indictment. North Atlantic Treaty Organisation allies have also increased defense spending by $33 billion in the past year, which led Trump to ask Friday: "Do you think Putin's happy about that?" Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., was among the first to call for Trump to cancel the summit, warning that, "Glad-handing with Vladimir Putin on the heels of these indictments would be an insult to our democracy".

The 29-page indictment accuses members of the Russian military intelligence agency known as the GRU of carrying out "large-scale cyber operations" to steal Clinton campaign and Democratic Party documents and emails.

"I will absolutely bring that up".

But Ushakov told reporters on Friday that the USA side in the summit may raise the issue of alleged election meddling.

Russian Federation has denied any involvement in the attack and rejected accusations that it interfered in the United States presidential election in a bid to help Trump win. The group has also been accused of stealing the personal information of a number of USA voters after managing to hack into an election board.

"President Trump should cancel his meeting with Vladimir Putin until Russian Federation takes demonstrable and transparent steps to prove that they won't interfere in future elections", wrote Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer in a statement. "Pure stupidity", Trump told reporters at the Friday press conference with May. Pure stupidity. But it makes it very hard to do something with Russian Federation. "I love the United States but I love getting along with Russian Federation and China and other countries".

Prosecutors also detailed a second Russian operation targeting the infrastructure that Americans use to cast their ballots and the officials that oversee those elections locally.

"We need to stay on the course that President Trump's policies are - rebuild American military strength, strengthen North Atlantic Treaty Organisation, get NATO to get spend money on their own defense, and stop having Europe make these multi-billion dollar oil and gas deals with Russian Federation".
