Two killed after boulder falls from truck, hits vehicle in Rosemount

Joe Czeck

The driver of a truck carrying a 1,100-pound boulder that flew off the back, hitting and killing a mother and daughter in another vehicle has been charged in their deaths.

The Toyota was traveling north, passing a truck heading south, when a boulder became "dislodged" from the back of the commercial vehicle and fell onto the auto, police said.

Czeck is scheduled to make an initial court appearance Friday in Hastings. An unconditional bail was set at $70,000.

Christiansen and her 32-year-old daughter, Jena Christiansen, who was in the front passenger seat, both died at the scene.

Czeck, who did not stop at the scene, was arrested Wednesday and booked at Dakota County Jail on two counts of criminal vehicular homicide, pending formal charges.

Defence attorney Tayler Rahm declined comment. She was so smart and lovely. "She made me the man I am today, I would be nothing without her", Killian said.

"We had a connection like no other.my heart is broken. the world has lost an angel".

"You could try and duplicate this a million times and you wouldn't get the same results", Scott said.

There's new information this morning on a deadly boulder crash near the Twin Cities this week: Police have arrested the man they believe was driving the landscaping truck from which an 800-pound boulder dislodged. "She loved her family so much, she had an incredible sense of humor". "She had an awesome sense of humor I literally have spent hours just talking to her", Kilian wrote to 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS. The company had two registered vehicles and only one driver, presumably Czeck.

Investigators were able to determine the truck belonged to Czeck Services, which led them to the driver. All of her employees loved her. 3 red lobster locations are taking a day for the loss of a family member. "She was with the company for over 15 years".
