Warner Bros. Greenlights Joaquin Phoenix-Led Joker Origin Film

The Joker movie has been a bit of an enigma amongst DC Comics fans, ever since it was first announced in September of previous year. And, if this art is anywhere close to what he looks like as The Joker, it could be visually incredible.

We couldn't help but ask the actor why, when he'd been very publicly courted for lead role in Marvel Studios' "Doctor Strange", he would sign on to do this comic book adaptation instead. He's developed a reputation because his works are, quite simply, excellent time after time. His pale white face is cracking and he looks rather upset about something or other.

This standalone project is just one of the Joker-related movies that DC now has in production.

Russell Knox sinks monster putt to win Irish Open following dramatic play-off
Ryan Fox of New Zealand reacts to a putt on the 18th green during the final round of the Irish Open at Ballyliffin Golf Club. The 2018 Dubai Duty-Free Irish Open was won by Scotland's Russell Knox , after a dramatic play-off win at Ballyliffin.

Phillips will direct from a screenplay he co-wrote with writer Scott Silver ("The Fighter"). Shooting will begin in September.

THR reports the budget at around $55 million, highlighting the lower-than-usual figure for a superhero blockbuster. There is no release date attached to the film, but it begins filming this Fall in NY. So this movie won't be connected to movies like Suicide Squad and Justice League. Even though this Joker pic is happening, Warner Bros.is still developing another one with Jared Leto in the role.

Upcoming DC Extended Universe films include Aquaman on December 21st, Shazam on April 5, 2019, and Wonder Woman 2 on November 1, 2019.
