Wenger Admits To Being A 'Prisoner Of His Own Challenge' At Arsenal

Reports today claimed that Arsenal's manager Unai Emery had given a green light to Petr Cech's transfer to Chelsea because he doesn't want to use the Czech Republican worldwide in the upcoming 2018/19 season since he has signed Bernd Leno.

The north London outfit chose Emery, a former Sevilla and Paris St Germain boss, to succeed long-serving manager Arsene Wenger in May and the 46-year-old has already signed five new players as he overhauls the squad.

Despite the arrival of Leno, though, Cech insists that he wants to stay at the Emirates Stadium and fight for his place. "The only thing I'm preparing for is the fight for the No. 1 spot in goal".

Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina is set to leave Arsenal for Besiktas despite interest from Sevilla and Napoli. "He has a lot of experience and I hope for him and Arsenal that he is successful with the club".

It's no surprise that Cech wasn't tempted by the move to Italy.

The Czech goalkeeper left Chelsea to join Arsenal in 2015, when Courtois had taken over the starting job, but could now return.

Cech and his family are settled in the English capital, having lived there since joining Chelsea back in 2004.

No formal offer has been put on the table yet but the report says Arsenal could face competition from the likes of Borussia Dortmund, Everton, Monaco, Marseille and Nice if we formalise our pursuit over the coming weeks.

Cech has been linked with a move back to former club Chelsea in recent days after Thibaut Courtois, who now has just a year left on his contract, is reportedly wanted by Real Madrid in a £48.5 million deal.

Arsenal had a £70 million ($91m) budget heading into the transfer window, however, and will have to sell before making any additional signings.

The two other names on Chelsea's radar are Leicester City keeper Kasper Schmeichel, who also had a great World Cup, and Arsenal's Petr Cech.
