Apple officially becomes the first $1 trillion company

So you would expect he would have a lot to say today when stock prices surged high enough to make his old employer the first trillion dollar company.

Still, concerns remained over the U.S. Kawasaki credits Cook for executing Jobs' vision. Shares of Apple this week traded at about 15 times expected earnings, compared to Amazon at 82 times earnings and Microsoft at 25 times earnings.

On Wednesday, Apple's quarterly 10Q filing to the SEC said there were 4,829,926,000 shares.

Apple has been credited with giving rise to lifestyles centered around mobile apps for seemingly everything from games and messaging to ordering food or summoning auto rides.

If Apple hits a growth wall in coming years, it's not hard to imagine the company facing similar calls to justify its climbing research-and-development bills.

Apple is in the unique situation of controlling the hardware and software in its mobile devices, with content for users required to go through its App Store that takes a percentage of revenue.

Apple is among the most widely held stocks in the world.

Cook hasn't escaped criticism, however.

Huawei introduced its smartphone giant Honor Note 10: specifications and price
Chances are that there will be 6 gigs of memory on-board along with 128 gigs of storage to play around with. That is a 10nm chip which comes with the Mali-G72 MP12 GPU for graphics processing, and an i7 co-processor.

Although Apple has yet to produce another mass-market sensation since that changing of the guard, Cook has leveraged the legacy that Jobs left behind to stunning heights.

That has raised concerns that Apple has become far too dependent on the iPhone, especially since iPad sales tapered off several years ago. Since its inception, the company has launched 18 different iPhones with over 1.2 billion devices sold.

Apple's services division alone is on pace to generate about $35 billion in revenue this fiscal year - more than all but a few dozen USA companies churn out annually.

But this isn't another tale of Apple's impossible-to-believe profit power, because Apple isn't the powerhouse that it used to be.

But he couldn't help but chuckle over the missed opportunity of being back at Apple today. US crude rose $1.30, or 1.9 per cent, to $68.96 a barrel.

A deepening trade dispute between the United States and China weighed on global stocks and bond yields on Thursday, but a rise in Apple shares took its valuation above a record $1-trillion and helped lift major US indexes into positive territory.

It doesn't come as a complete surprise that Apple was first to reach the mark and though I'm not a big fan of Apple it's hard to deny the impact they have had on technology over the last 20 years.
