Blood pressure drug recalled, potentially life-threatening label mix-up

Accord - the company that distributes the drug - is recalling this individual lot from the market due to the "potential mix-up of labeling".

One lot of 12.5 milligram hydrochlorothiazide tablets is affected: Lot PW05264.

Bottles of 100 tablets of hydrochlorothiazide were incorrectly labeled and instead contained 100 25 mg tablets of spironolactone, according to a patient complaint made through a pharmacy.

A drug manufacturer is recalling bottles of a blood pressure medication after a mislabeled bottle was found to contain a different medication.

But, as the website noted, spironolactone can treat low potassium levels. However, using spironolactone tablets instead of hydrochlorothiazide tablets could increase the risk of contracting hyperkalemia (elevated potassium levels), which could trigger other adverse events of varying degrees of severity depending on the person.

Tesla Moves Into Smartphone Charger Market
In addition to allowing the wireless charging of devices, it is possible to charge devices via the USB interface as well. In addition to wirelessly charging your device, you can also power up your phone with the integrated USB-C cable.

Accord's tablets are round, light peach-colored pills with an "h" on one side and the number "1" on the other.

To date, Accord says it has not received any reports of adverse events related to this recall.

Meanwhile, Hydrochlorothiazide is used "as the sole therapeutic agent or to enhance the effectiveness of other antihypertensive drugs in the more severe forms of hypertension". Patients who have tablets that don't match the description should call their doctor or pharmacy for further instructions.

Earlier this month, the FDA expanded a blood pressure medication recall that started in July, according to a report from the Inquisitr.

If you're taking any kind of prescription medication for your high blood pressure, it's worth double-checking your medicine cabinet.
