Chris Pratt's 'Cowboy Ninja Viking' Movie Delayed Indefinitely

‘Cowboy Ninja Viking’ Movie Stopped In Its Tracks By Universal

It's been reported by Collider that "Cowboy Ninja Viking" - which was set to be Michelle MacLaren's feature-length directorial debut - has been put on hold indefinitely and removed from Universal's release schedule.

According to a report by Collider, the movie has been pulled from the release slate of the studio which had scheduled it to hit theatres on June 28, 2019. The program then transforms Duncan into an assassin/super-soldier, who utilizes the skills from his three personas - a cowboy, a ninja, and a viking. According to Hollywood entertainment portal, the producers of Cowboy Ninja Viking have removed the film from the release calendar. The studio didn't bother giving the movie a new release date, but word is that the production is still active and will happen eventually. It was being speculated that if the wedding with beau Nick Jonas is not the reason then Priyanka Chopra opted out of Salman Khan's Bharat and Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Gangubai Kothewali, it must be Pratt's film. She most recently helmed the pilot for HBO's The Deuce, and also has the WWII thriller The Nightingale in development at Tri-Star. Craig Mazin (The Huntsman: Winter's War) penned an earlier draft, updating an original take by Deadpool writers Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese.

It's expected that MacLaren, along with star Chris Pratt, will remain attached to the project for the time being. Yes, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom has turned a huge profit for Universal, but the sequel will still come in about $400 million below the first film, and let's not forget that Pratt's expensive sci-fi movie Passengers, which paired him with a strong box office draw in Jennifer Lawrence, barely turned a profit.
