Columnist explains how Omarosa has managed to ‘maximize her leverage’ on Trump

Omarosa Manigault-Newman then an aide to President Donald Trump watches during a meeting with parents and teachers in the Roosevelt Room of the White House in Washington. The White House is slamming a new book

Like many who are invested in following this controversy, one Twitter user is curious about her motive behind releasing this book because "Omarosa knew about tapes of Trump using the N-word way back in The Apprentice, and yet she still went to work for him at the White House and still bragged to PBS Frontline that "every critic, every detractor will have to bow down to President Trump".

During a White House pool spray, Trump responded to a shouted question about Manigault and her book- which claims that there are tapes of Trump using the N-word - by calling her a "lowlife".

Manigault Newman, who got her big break as a contender on Trump's canceled TV show, The Apprentice, has, in the words of the NY magazine's Jonathan Chait "met a wall of skepticism bordering on reflexive disbelief".

In this photo, taken February 14, 2017, Omarosa Manigault-Newman, then an aide to President Donald Trump, watches during a meeting with parents and teachers in the Roosevelt Room of the White House in Washington.

She recounts how Trump battled to have a tanning bed installed when he moved into the White House.

President Donald Trump visits with members of Bikers for Trump and supporters, Saturday, Aug. 11, 2018, outside the clubhouse of Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, N.J. Her book also describes him as scattered, self-absorbed, misogynistic and insecure.

She then asked: 'Instead of the Bible?' before Mr Trump supposedly replied: 'Yeah.

The accusations are among a long list of scandalous claims contained in her new book, "Unhinged", set to come out August 14. The Associated Press purchased an early copy.

Newman, who once worked in U.S. President Bill Clinton's administration, initially rose to fame as a contestant on Trump's reality TV show "The Apprentice" in 2004.

"It had finally sunk in that the person I'd thought I'd known so well for so long was actually a racist", she wrote, according to The Guardian. The White House has already slammed it as "riddled with lies and false accusations".

Don't miss out on the latest news and information.

After turning down the job, she said she received a "flurry" of letters from attorneys representing the president telling her to "stay silent about Trump, or else".
