Facebook, iTunes and Spotify drop InfoWars

Alex Jones, the conspiracy theorist and his show, Infowars, has been banned from several forums, including Facebook and Spotify, and Youtube has just been added to the list.

All of those shows have been removed from Apple Podcasts save for one, Real News with David Knight, which at present is still on the platform.

Apple deleted most of his podcasts and a spokeswoman said that the company "does not tolerate hate speech" and publishes guidelines that developers and publishers must follow. The company did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Jones says his shows, which are broadcast on radio, YouTube and other platforms reach upwards of 70 million people per week. "All four Pages have been unpublished for repeated violations of Community Standards and accumulating too many strikes", the company said in a blog post.

Jones and Infowars have faced accusations of using these platforms to spread falsehoods and conspiracy theories.

Although Infowars promotes some conspiracy theories that are far outside the mainstream - for example, that 9/11 was actually orchestrated by the USA government - it also reports on current events just as other media do. The company also called Jones a "repeat offender".

Smartphones Banned In French Schools
Secondary schools for their part can decide individually whether to impose a partial or total ban on connected devices. Years ago, they brought the same law into the function, but later they had to remove that ban from students.

YouTube, which is owned by Google, issued a strike against Jones in July and removed four of his videos, removed top channels associated with InfoWars on Monday, including The Alex Jones Channel, which has almost 2.5 million subscribers. The InfoWars host Sandy Hook truther is seeing his empire crumble, six years after he began labeling grieving parents and mass-shooting victims as "crisis actors", who are part of an elaborate plan to take down the Second Amendment.

Infowars has also been cited repeatedly for promulgating "fake news", but Facebook said in its statement that misinformation is a different issue that the social network is trying to address separately.

The company said that more content from the pages had since been reported, and it had chose to remove them for "repeated violations of community standards and accumulating too many strikes".

Backlash against Alex Jones grew to a new level on Monday as YouTube announced that it was terminating the far-right conspiracy theorist's channels in the wake of similar suspensions and removals by Facebook, Apple and Spotify.

It is unconfirmed if Infowars went through the appeals process, but its editor-at-large Paul Watson said the outlet was banned. And Google also removed the Alex Jones channel from its platform. "We believe in representing a wide range of views, so long as people are respectful to those with differing opinions". "We take reports of hate content seriously and review any podcast episode or song that is flagged by our community", a Spotify spokesperson told EW in a statement Monday.

"In an unsurprising turn of events, InfoWars did not heed the warning and continued to post violent content; Facebook chose to act because Jones's pages had "[accumulated] too many strikes".
