Indian envoy calls on Imran Khan, hopes to improve relations

Navjot Sidhu and Kapil Dev to grace their presence in Imran Khan’s oath-taking ceremony

Indian cricket legends Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev and Navjot Singh Sidhu have been invited to the oath taking ceremony of Pakistan's Prime Minister-in-Waiting Imran Khan, reported the Dawn. Bisaria also gifted Khan a bat autographed by the entire Indian cricket team, the statement said.

"Indian HC Ajay Bisaria called on Mr Imran Khan, Chairperson & senior leadership of PTI.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday demanded a written apology from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan for violating the electoral code of conduct while casting his vote during the general election 2018.

Not only this, Imran Khan is the same person who is all set to swear in as a new prime minister of Pakistan next week.

Khan also hoped for India's participation in the SAARC summit, scheduled to be held in Islamabad.

The meeting come in the backdrop of Khan expressing his will to resume bilateral ties with India and de-escalate the tensions through dialogue. "Wars can breed tragedies instead of facilitating resolution of conflicts", Khan was quoted as telling the Indian Prime Minister.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has accepted the unconditional apology of National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq and former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister Pervez Khattak using unethical language during electoral campaign.

In response, Imran said that Pakistan wishes to strengthen trade and diplomatic relations with Iran. It was being speculated that Khan would take the oath prior to Pakistan's Independence Day celebrations on August 14. Islamabad was to host the summit in November 2016 but it was cancelled after New Delhi made a decision to stay away from the meet following a string of attacks blamed on Pakistan-based terror groups.

India accuses Pakistan of pushing in terrorists across the line of control (LoC) in Kashmir to stoke terrorism in Kashmir and other parts of India, a charge Pakistan denies though it admits to supporting a "freedom movement" in Kashmir.
