BREAKING Paul O'Connell to join coaching team at Top14 side Stade Francais

O'Connell joins a growing list of Irish coaches overseas as he links up with the highly-rated Prendergast who is in charge of the Stade attack for the next three seasons.

O'Connell won 108 worldwide caps for Ireland between 2002 to 2015, the last of which came against Argentina at the 2015 Rugby World Cup in England. Paul will bring his value and experience to our team thanks to his leadership ability and tactical and technical knowledge.

Former Irish and Munster star Paul O'Connell has joined the coaching staff at Stade Francais.

"This is a major asset for the club and it shows the ambitions and goals of Stade Francais".

The former British and Irish Lions captain had previously been working in an advisory role with Munster's Academy before joining Noel McNamara's coaching setup with the U-20's last December.

He also formed an integral part of Ireland's 2009 Grand Slam triumph and the back-to-back Six Nations triumphs of 2014 and 2015.

At 38-years-old, the Limerick native was set to join French side Toulon in a playing capacity after the 2015 World Cup; alas, a career-ending injury hampered the move.

He said in a statement: "I am really happy to join Paris and to be able to work at this great club alongside Heyneke Meyer".
