Kenny Stills Offers NFL Possible Way To Stop Protests During National Anthem

NFL player responds to Trump's tweet: 'What a goober'

Police officers in South Florida are being urged by their unions not to buy Dolphins tickets, or ask for refunds if they've already purchased tickets, as a result of Dolphins players kneeling during the national anthem before the preseason opener.

"The Broward County PBA (BCPBA) recently offered our members discounts to a Miami Dolphins game because that franchise said they were going to honor all First Responders", BCPBA posted on Facebook Friday.

Jordan is just one of many players who has questioned why Trump would get involved with the debate over the protests.

The Miami-Dade police union said many of its member officers declined to provide off-duty security at Dolphins games, last season, because of the protests.

The Palm Beach County Police Benevolent Association echoed the call with an identical Facebook message.

Dolphins wide receivers Kenny Stills and Albert Wilson were the only players to kneel during the anthem, the Miami Herald notes, while teammate Robert Quinn raised his fist. Earlier this year they announced a new policy that said players who knelt during the anthem could be fined by their teams.

Players from the Philadelphia Eagles, San Francisco 49ers, Jacksonville Jaguars and Seattle Seahawks also protested at their game on Thursday, provoking President Donald Trump into repeating his condemnations of their actions. Stand proudly for your National Anthem or be Suspended Without Pay!

"Most of that money goes to the players anyway", he continued.

A week later, the National Football League said it would put the policy on hold so it could discuss a solution with the association.

After Thursday's protests, the NFL said the league's anthem policy is still on hold while it talks with the players association.

An increasing number of players joined him, but critics perceived the protests as unpatriotic and disrespectful of the American flag and U.S. military.
